Several teams are on the cusp of qualification for the round of 16 ahead
of this week's Champions League action.
With the Champions League group stages reaching the halfway point, a
number of teams have set their sights on sealing qualification for the
knockout stages this week.
Groups A to D are in action on
Tuesday, while the remaining four groups play out matchday four on
Wednesday and several teams are one win away from the next round.
In
Group B, Real Madrid are on the verge of booking their
ticket for the knockout stages of the competition as a win over
Juventus in Turin will suffice, while even a draw will be enough if
Copenhagen fail to beat Galatasaray.
Elsewhere, Paris
Saint-Germain will be confident of sealing qualification
against Anderlecht. A win will see the Ligue 1 champions through to the
last-16 for the second successive year.
Titleholders Bayern
Munich and Manchester City, meanwhile, will
both be optimistic about their chances of reaching the round of 16 ahead
of matchday four as well. The Bundesliga giants will definitely
progress from Group D if they bag the full three points against Viktoria
Plazen and CSKA Moscow drop points against City. Even a draw could be
enough for Bayern if the Russians lose against Manuel Pellegrini's men.
As for City, a win over CSKA will see them reach the knockout stages,
too.
Furthermore, Atletico Madrid will reach the
round of 16 with a win over Austria Wien, while they will also progress
from Group G with a draw if Zenit St Petersburg beat Porto.
Finally,
Barcelona can also make it to the knockout stages this
week as a win over AC Milan will see them through from Group H.
