Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata
did the damage as Chelsea saw off a below-par Arsenal to progress to the
Capital One Cup quarter-finals at the Emirates Stadium.
Azpilicueta pounced on Carl Jenkinson's weak back header to poke the ball past Lukasz Fabianski 25 minutes in, and Mata made the game safe with a stunning right-footed drive from distance on 66 minutes.
Arsenal struggled to create chances against a disciplined Blues defence, and will now have to focus their efforts on other competitions in a bid to end their eight-year trophy drought.
